Cleanings & Check-ups

Aside from your daily brushing and flossing routine, attending regular dental check-ups and cleaning is one of the most important things you can do to care for your teeth. However, unfortunately, it is an area of dental hygiene that Canadians tend to neglect.

At Dr. Beatrice Leung Dentistry we do everything we can to make sure our clients have happy, healthy smiles. This means comprehensive check-ups and thorough cleanings, at regular intervals.

Why are regular cleanings and check-ups so important?

Brushing and flossing is the best way to care for your teeth at home, however, this is just one part of dental hygiene. It’s also very important to come in for your regularly scheduled appointment, even if you haven’t noticed any changed in your dental health. During your checkup, we monitor your mouth for a number of things, including:

  • Tooth structure (including wisdom teeth)
  • Tooth fractures and cavities
  • Root cavities
  • Gum health
  • Oral cancer warning signs

During your regular checkup, we will also perform a thorough cleaning of your mouth. Even with a perfect brushing and flossing regime, there will be some level of plaque buildup over time. During your cleaning we remove this plaque, as buildup over time will eventually cause gum disease and other negative issues.

Dental cleanings for kids

Your child’s first trip to the dentist is an important one. Creating a positive association with the dentist’s office in your child’s mind is a crucial step in establishing a lifetime of good dental hygiene.

At Dr. Beatrice Leung Dentistry, our staff creates a welcoming environment for children. One of the ways we achieve this is by explaining what’s happening during each step of the exam in a way that children can understand. We believe that by taking this approach, children will become interested in dental hygiene, and will actually become internally motivated to care for their teeth.

New to the practice? No problem! We are currently accepting new patients.

For your first appointment, we ask that all new patients arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time to fill out some forms, and have our receptionist take down any dental insurance information. To save time, patients can fill out these forms from home, but this is not required. For more information on what is required as a new patient, and to print off the forms to fill out at home, please visit our first appointment page.
