Please follow me on this maxillary reconstruction. This patient told me he had a bridge made as a teenager and he broke it within one week of function. I know from looking at his occlusal scheme, it will be tough to establish something that is both functional and aesthetic. I know I have to test out my provisional implant prosthesis before deciding how to design his permanent prosthesis. The case had many hardware complications. In spite of that, we worked through the temporary prosthesis to have a better understanding of how he functions. The challenge was to arrange the teeth that he likes and at the same time that his occlusal scheme would be able to tolerate. We discussed different types of materials available and in the end we agreed to provide a metal frame with layered porcelain to support his occlusion. I have emphasized to him the possibility of porcelain fracture. Thanks for reading.
